It has been over twenty years since I first met Chauncey. At the time, I was thinking of starting a company. I had no experience but plenty of ignorance. It was Chauncey that gave me the confidence to proceed. His trust in me was all I needed to launch my career to this day.

Chauncey had a special ability to bring out the best in others. He believes in the goodness of people and also in technology. He mentored many young scientists and I am one of those young persons fortunate enough to have known him. His spirit, insight, and encouragement changed the life of everyone around him.

Chauncey was a principal founder of Chrontel. He served as our Chairman since Chrontel’s inception in 1986 and became our Chairman Emeritus on July 16, 2002. If it was not for his advice and help throughout these years, Chrontel could not have existed today.

Since 2002, especially during my difficult moments, I would seek his advice and wisdom by visiting him at his office in EPRI. His weakened knee succeeded in slowing his mobility, but never his spirit nor his positive view of what technology could bring to humanity. His optimism to life indirectly solved my most difficult problems at Chrontel.

Our challenge in life will never cease. All I need to do to overcome the most difficult problem is to close my eyes and remember the many wonderful exchanges I had with Chauncey. I am sure his legacy lives on in the memory of the many lucky persons who get to know him.
