SanJose,CA (September 16, 2025) — Chrontel (www.chrontel.com), a leading provider of video interface technologies, today announced the launch of CH7512, the new upgraded version of DispalyPort to LVDS standard bridge ASIC series, supporting PC/AIO and display devices with higher resolution, higher refresh rate, and lower power consumption. Chrontel's CH7512 is used in traditional PCs to convert DisplayPort input signals into LVDS outputs.
The CH7512 series ASICs include CH7512A and CH7512A-H, as well as their corresponding industrial part numbers, with CH7512A-H being the part number that supports high refresh rates. The CH7512 series ASICs are the upgraded version of Chrontel's general-purpose CH7511B chip and maintains pin compatibility design with the latter. The latter was released in March 2011 and has a wide range of industry applications. The CH7512 series adopts a new semiconductor production and processing technology, which comprehensively improves the transmission rate and reception capability of DisplayPort signals while reducing the power consumption required for signal conversion. The DispalyPort receiver of the CH7512 series chip complies with the DisplayPort (DP) version 1.4 specification and the Embedded Display Port (eDP) version 1.4 specification. Its LVDS transmitter’s single channel pixel clock can support up to 170MHz, and this high bandwidth enables CH7512A-H to support stable transmission of 1080P resolution display data at a high refresh rate of 144Hz. In the current mainstream GPU/SOC platform display output driver design, when the refresh rate of display data supported by the transmission path reaches or exceeds 120Hz, the dynamic variable refresh rate function of display data can be enabled to achieve the goal of green energy saving. The CH7512 series chip integrates an efficient power supply voltage conversion module and a high-precision clock oscillation generation module, allowing the series chip to support wide voltage power input and greatly save peripheral circuit components such as crystal oscillators. The CH7512 DP input terminal has a mature de-spread frequency control/De-SSC module, and the LVDS transmission terminal has a spread frequency control/SSC module and programmable driving current/common mode voltage functions, which can effectively regulate and reduce electromagnetic radiation interference/EMI in high-frequency display data transmission.
The CH7512 series ASIC also optimizes the internal program running algorithm, allowing one version of application firmware to support up to 32 different resolution modes of LVDS displays, greatly enhancing the on-site configuration capability for different standard displays. Various firmware generation tools and comprehensive online update tools enable application engineers to calmly face changes in requirements and quickly adjust system equipment.
“Currently, compared to other display standards, LVDS displays still have sufficient competitiveness in the market. Mainstream products have gradually advanced from a 60Hz standard refresh rate to support high refresh rates such as 75Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz. This high refresh rate is more in line with or enriches the subjective visual experience of humans. At the same time, the dynamic variable refresh rate function in the display process has become a standard for green and energy-saving display products. ”Dr. David Soo, Chairman and CEO of Chrontel, said, "The launch of CH7512 series chips has enabled the system motherboard to support high refresh LVDS displays. Chrontel's new product will help our customers smoothly transition to DisplayPort and maintain maximum profits.”
The CH7512 series pin output is compatible with CH7511B, and for application motherboards that have already adopted CH7511B, no hardware revisions are required to switch to CH7512. At present, some customers have completed the functional and reliability verification of CH7512 and entered the mass production stage.
