Chrontel Continue upgrading the DisplayPort to LVDS standard bridge ASIC series

09-09,2026 | Chrontel

Shanghai, China (December 12, 2025) — Chrontel(www.chrontel.com), a leading provider of video interface technologies, today announced the launch of CH7516, the new upgraded version DispalyPort (4 Lane) to LVDS (4 Channel) standard bridge ASIC series, supporting stable transmission of 2560x1440 display data at a high refresh rate of 144Hz, or 4800x2160 display data at a refresh rate of 60Hz. Chrontel's CH7516 series chips are used in traditional PC/AIO and mainstream commercial displays, converting and outputting DisplayPort input signals to general LVDS acquisition and reception systems such as LVDS displays or FPGAs.

The CH7516 series ASICs include CH7516A and the corresponding industrial part numbers. The CH7516 series chip is the upgraded version of Chrotnel's general-purpose CH7515 chip, which was released in January 2012 and has a wide range of industry applications. The CH7516 series adopts a new semiconductor production and processing technology, which comprehensively improves the transmission rate and reception capability of DisplayPort signals while reducing the power consumption required for signal conversion. The DispalyPort receiver of the CH7516 series chip complies with the DisplayPort (DP) version 1.4 specification and the Embedded Display Port (eDP) version 1.4 specification, and its four main links support a link transmission rate of 5.4Gbps/HBR2. Its 4-channel LVDS transmitter has 5 pairs of data differential pairs per channel to support 10-bit high color depth display data transmission; The single channel pixel clock can support up to 170MHz, which allows the CH7516A to support 1080P resolution display data with a high refresh rate of 265Hz, or stable transmission of 2560x1440 display data with a high refresh rate of 144Hz. In the current mainstream GPU/SOC platform display output driver design, when the refresh rate of display data supported by the transmission path reaches or exceeds 120Hz, the dynamic variable refresh rate function of display data can be enabled to achieve the goal of green energy saving. The CH7516 series chip integrates a high-precision clock oscillation generation module internally, which can save peripheral circuit components such as crystal oscillators. The CH7516 DP input terminal has a mature de spread frequency control/De SSC module, and the LVDS transmission terminal has a spread frequency control/SSC module and programmable driving current/common mode voltage functions, which can effectively regulate and reduce electromagnetic radiation interference/EMI in high-frequency display data transmission. Various firmware generation tools and comprehensive online update tools enable application engineers to calmly face changes in requirements and quickly adjust system equipment.

2K resolution and high color depth have gradually become the mainstream display model of desktop office all-in-one machines and displays, and continue to upgrade to 4K resolution. The refresh rate of mainstream products has gradually advanced from the standard 60Hz refresh rate to support high refresh rates such as 75Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz. This high refresh rate and high color depth can better restore image colors and better meet or enrich human visual subjective feelings. The dynamic variable refresh rate function in the display process has become a standard for green and energy-saving display products. ”Dr. David Soo, Chairman and CEO of Chrontel, said, "At the same time, LVDS displays still have sufficient competitiveness in the industry chain. The launch of the CH7516 series ASICs have enabled the system motherboard to support high-resolution and high refresh rate LVDS displays. Chrontel's new products will help our customers smoothly transition to DisplayPort and maintain maximum profits.”

At present, some customers have completed the functional and reliability verification of CH7516 and entered the mass production stage.
